About Our Coaches
Head Squash Coach Paul Assaiante enters his 25th season as Trinity College Head Men's Squash Coach in 2018-19, after guiding the Bantams to a 19-1 record, an 11th consecutive NESCAC Championship title and their 16th College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship crown in recent years.
Assaiante guided Trinity to 13 consecutive CSA National titles from 1999 to 2011 and 252 wins in a row which is the longest winning streak in the history of intercollegiate varsity sports. Coach Assaiante has also recently returned to international coaching as the US Squash Coach, leading the men to a best-ever finish at the World Championship in Paderborn, Germany in '11 and the U.S. Junior Team to a best-ever 8th place finish in the 2012 World Championships in Qatar.
Assaiante’s professional athletic career was nothing short of spectacular. He was one-half of the U.S. national doubles championship duo in 1994 and captured the USSRA 50-and-over men’s squash title in 2004. Joining Assaiante will be members of the Trinity Squash Coaching Staff and Team.
Rick Penders '18 joined the Trinity College Coaching Staff as an assistant coach for the 2018-19 season. Penders was a captain on Trinity's 2018 College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship (Potter Trophy) squad and graduated from the college this year with a degree in urban studies. He is a seven-time Dutch Junior National Champion and remains a member of the Dutch National Team. A three-time All-American for the Bantams, Penders compiled a 53-19 career record at Trinity playing in the top half of the varsity lineup. Trinity men's squash, coached by Paul Assaiante, finished with a 20-0 overall record and won the CSA National Team Championship (Potter Trophy) title for the 17th time and the second year in a row in 2017-18. The Bantams, which hosted the finals at Kellner Center, downed Princeton, 8-1, edged St. Lawrence, 5-4, and defeated Harvard, 6-4, in the Potter Trophy Finals.
We encourage everyone to stay overnight at the Elite Invitational, but will offer a non-residential price to those local players who desire to sleep at home. Immersing entirely into the program gives our staff the flexibility to transition the curriculum freely throughout the week. Our goal is to provide players with a variety of teachable moments. There will be great opportunities to learn on and off the court and depending on the intensity of matches, scheduled private lessons, Q&A and skill clinics, the ideal experience hinges on our unlimited access. We aim to customize all aspects of the experience in the moment as we work together to reach your goals.

I felt very challenged at this camp and I appreciated all the feedback that I got from the coaches on my squash play. The coaches are truly passionate about the sport and they want to do everything they can to help us get better. This camp has definitely increased my ability of play and has helped me feel more confident in tournament play this year.
I sent my son to squash camp this summer and it was great! The player to coach ratio was phenomenal, it really gave my son the attention he needs as a player to improve his skills. This camp was great to prepare him for collegiate play and his performance really inclined. He truly enjoyed interacting with other players who were just as devoted to the sport as he was. I highly recommend this camp to anyone and everyone! The coaches were outstanding!
We traveled from the west coast to attend this camp so our son could get exposure to a different group of players and coaches. Very well run camp.
This is the best camp I have ever been too. I learned a lot of new things and really enjoyed meeting new people. The courts are amazing and the dorms were perfect.
