Overview

Campers will enjoy this camp opportunity to train with some of the best squash coaches in the Northeast. Campers will leave this week’s training opportunity with a solid foundation of technique, a better understanding of the game, and have enjoyed positive and competitive match play. Campers will train in the Jerry Day Jr.’37 Squash Center. The Center houses seven glass-backed, international squash courts with paneled walls, manufactured and installed by the World Squash Federation-certified ASB America.


About Our Coaches

Chanel Erasmus

Chanel, originally from Cape Town, South Africa, came to the United States in 2012 after being recruited to play squash at Trinity College. Having both played for and coached with one of the country’s premier college squash programs, Chanel Erasmus brings a wealth of experience to The Hill School as the Director of Squash.

During her time at Trinity, she was a member of the National Championship-winning squash and crew team. She won an all-divisions National Championship for squash in 2014, after beating Harvard in the finals. Later that year the Trinity women's rowing team won the NCAA D3 team rowing championship. In 2015 her varsity boat won the NCAA Division 3 Varsity 8 National Championship in Sacramento, Calif.

A native of Capetown, South Africa, Erasmus was a member of the South African National Squash Team as a junior player. She represented South Africa at the 2008 British Junior Squash Open and Scottish Open, and in 2009 Erasmus was the Under-16 age group winner in the South African National Squash Championship.

Chanel majored in theater and dance which allowed her to combine her love for the arts and athletics. She has performed in theater productions and films in and around Connecticut. Chanel was a volunteer assistant coach for the Trinity women's squash and crew team from 2015-2017. She is completing her M.A. degree in public policy at Trinity College.


Camp Details

Check in/out: Overnight Campers check in between 1:00-2:00pm on the first day. Day & Extended Day Campers check in at 2:00pm on the first day. Check out for everyone is at 12pm on the last day.

Age & Ability: Camp is open to ages 10-18 of all ability levels.

Meals Provided: Overnight campers- Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; Extended Day Campers- Lunch and Dinner; Day Campers- Lunch Only

Evening Activities: After dinner, campers will enjoy more social activities including: movie night, ice cream socials, exhibition matches, recreational sports and workshops on recruiting, fitness, and leadership.
