The Loomis Chaffee School is a renowned New England boarding school located on a 300-acre campus in historic Windsor, Connecticut. State-of-the-art facilities include 10 air conditioned International Squash Courts. The Loomis Chaffee campus is surrounded by an expanse of meadows that provide 17 of the finest sports playing fields in the area, baseball and two softball diamonds; an all-weather eight-lane track; a 5K cross country course; Har-Tru tennis courts; and a golf practice driving range, putting green, and sand trap. The athletic center boasts a six-lane 25 meter pool, fitness center, two weight rooms, a double gymnasium with convocation center, a practice gym, wrestling gym, indoor golf facility, squash courts, dance studio, and training room.
Loomis' beautiful campus is located at the confluence of the Farmington and Connecticut rivers in Windsor, Connecticut. Affectionately referred to as the Island, Loomis is within walking distance of the town’s center and its restaurants, banks, supermarket, pharmacy, public library, Amtrak train station, and other areas of interest. Connecticut’s capital city of Hartford and Bradley International Airport are less than 10 minutes driving distance, south and north of Windsor, respectively. Great shopping, movie theaters, and a variety of dining can be found within 15 miles of campus including Blue Back Square and the Center in West Hartford, the Buckland Hills Mall and movie theater in Manchester, and Westfarms Mall in Farmington. Student Activities schedules frequent outings to these destinations and others including Six Flags - New England.
About Our Coaches
Lauren Williams joined the Loomis Chaffee community in 2016 as a member of the Penn Residency Master’s in Teaching program. She hails from Zimbabwe and began teaching history, English literature, and social sciences at the Girls’ College High School in Zimbabwe. She also was the head coach of the school’s squash program and assistant coach for the field hockey team.
Lauren graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she was a history major and philosophy and geology minor. Lauren also competed for the Bates field hockey and squash teams. Lauren received Academic All-NESCAC honors in both squash and field hockey. She was named captain of the squash team and earned the Coach’s Award and Most Valuable Player in 2016. During her senior campaign in squash, Lauren helped her Bates team to win the Walker Cup, at trophy presented to the C Division of the National Team Championship, for the first time in program history, one of her favorite sports memories.
Lauren teaches history at Loomis, lives on campus, and serves as an affiliate in Ammidon Hall. Her favorite sports team is the Dutch women’s field hockey team, and she believes Serena Williams is one of the all-around greatest athletes.
Campers will enjoy the perfect balance of technical and tactical skill training, individual and team competition and camper bonding. Age & Ability: Camp is open to ages 10-18 of all ability levels.
Meals: Campers will need to bring their own packed lunch.
Camp Activities: Campers will enjoy more social activities including: film, ice cream socials, exhibition matches, recreational sports and workshops on recruiting, fitness, and leadership.
